Introduction
Tally (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a nutrition and training journal you keep by talking to a coach. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. By using Tally, you agree to this policy.
Information We Collect
Phone number: You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code sent by text. Your number identifies your account. We use Twilio to deliver the code.
Your journal: The food, workouts, weights, targets and training program you log are stored on our servers under your account so they sync between your devices and any agent you connect.
Coach conversations: Messages you send to the in-app coach, including photos you attach, are sent to our servers along with your journal so the coach can answer. We keep a log of these exchanges to diagnose problems and improve the coach. The coach is powered by Anthropic’s Claude models; Anthropic processes the request and does not use it to train models.
Health data: With your permission, Tally reads your body weight from Apple Health and can save weigh-ins you log back to Health. Health data is used only to show your weight trend and to give the coach your real numbers. It is never used for advertising and never sold.
Camera and photos: The camera is used to scan food barcodes, which are looked up in the Open Food Facts database. Photos you choose are sent to the coach and are not used for anything else.
Diagnostics: Apple may share standard, anonymized crash reports and usage statistics with us if you have opted in through iOS settings.
How We Use Information
To keep your journal, sync it between your devices and agents, answer you as your coach, and keep the service running. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not profile you for marketing.
How We Share Information
We share data only with the service providers needed to run Tally: Anthropic (coach responses), Twilio (sign-in codes), Neon (database hosting) and Vercel (server hosting). Each processes data on our behalf and under our instructions.
We do not sell your personal information.
Connected Agents
If you connect your own agent through the Tally command line tool, that agent reads and writes your journal with your sign-in. What it sends to its own model is governed by that model provider’s policies, not ours.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your journal is kept while your account exists. To delete your account and everything stored with it, email us from the address below with your phone number and we will remove it within 30 days. Signing out from Trends removes your session from the device but keeps your journal on the server.
Your Rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data at any time. You can revoke Health, camera and photo access in iOS Settings.

Not Medical Advice
Tally helps you keep records and stay consistent. It is not a medical or dietary professional. Consult a professional before making significant changes to your diet or training.
Children
Tally isn’t for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from children. If we learn we have, we’ll delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
